Great Family Vacation to Seattle!

We just returned from a great family vacation to Washington State.  Great weather, great activities and great kids.  We couldn't ask for anything more!

We started off with a visit to the Space Needle.

An obligatory visit to the first Starbucks -- a revered place for this family.

We took a ride on Seattle's Great Wheel.

Then it was time for a water taxi to Alki Beach.  Chad and Oliver.

We then spent a couple of days in the amazing San Juan Islands.  We took a 1 hour ferry ride through the beautiful islands.

We visited the San Juan Island Lime Kiln lighthouse.  

We saw a seal just off in the water!

The main event on the islands was a three hour orca watching boat ride.  

And boy did we see them!  One of about a dozen incredible orca whales we got to see up close.

Then it was off to the mountains to see Mount Rainier.

We braved a 3 mile family hike.

The half way point was a lovely isolated lake, where we enjoyed a picnic.

The next day we took a gondola ride to view Rainier.

We returned to Seattle and checked out the Chihuly glass art gallery.
