Puerto Rico 2023 -- Old San Juan to Rainforest Ziplining

For our summer 2023 family vacation, we took on Puerto Rico:  a chance to get to know the Caribbean a little better and enjoy a restful, beach-focused vacationnn.

The fun starts in the shuttle at O'Hare.

Ready for take off!

After a short 4 1/2 hour flight, we landed, and we got off to a great start with a delicious lunch.

Two types of plantains!  Yum!

Then we took to the Atlantic Ocean, near where we were staying in the Condado area of north central San Juan.  The temperature was amazing.  All week, the weather was about perfect, steady in the mid 80s.

Great pizza right at the hotel!

Great view of Condado area beach.

On our first full day, we took on Old San Juan, the original area of San Juan, which is replete with history and amazing fortifications dating back to the 1500s.

After visiting of the two major fortresses, we explored the old streets with fun shops, foods and sights.

Tough kids of Old San Juan strike again.

We happened upon the location of the *creation* of the first Pina Colada!  Cheers!

We visited the cathedral in Old San Juan. Also where Ponce De Leon is buried!  We didn't realize it but he was the first governor of Puerto Rico.

Nice to enjoy the pool after a hot day exploring the city.

A great time in San Juan!

On our way out of San Juan to where we would spend the rest of our time, Amy arranged for us to do some ziplining in the middle of a rainforest!  It was the first time ziplining for all of us and it was a blast!  Luke above.

After the fun of ziplining, we made it to our hotel, which we picked because it would be an easy and restful place to spend several days to relax and unwind.
