For Spring Break this year, we took on our nation's capital, Washington, DC. We covered a lot of territory, learned a great deal and made some great memories. As luck would have it, our visit overlapped with near peak blooming of the Cherry Blossoms.

Arrived at [Reagan] National Airport!
Getting ready for the Metro.
Impressed by the DC Metro! We took it right to our hotel between Foggy Bottom and DuPont Circle.
After checking into our hotel, we grabbed a quick lunch and embraced the beautiful weather by spending the afternoon exploring DC's amazing monuments. First stop after just a short 20 minute walk: the Lincoln Memorial.

Next up was the MLK Memorial.
Next up, the amazing Cherry Blossoms around the DC Tidal Basin! Such a great walk enjoying these amazing blossoms on a perfect weather day.
Along the way we stopped at the FDR Memorial.
Important stop along the way around the Basin: Stumpy. A very old Cherry Blossom that will soon be cut down due to the need to adjust the basin rim. It has been a fighter and earned five big super fans on this trip.
Next up was the Jefferson Memorial.
We had a little difficulty getting excited for Jefferson given his legacy as a slave owner.
We had a great dinner at a nice Italian restaurant near our hotel to celebrate a very successful first day in DC.
Oliver and his feast.
For Day 2, we started with a scheduled tour of Georgetown University.
This is the first college visits for the kids.
An impressive campus and a great start to thinking in earnest about college! Great also to see a historic DC neighborhood.
For the afternoon, we had a great visit to the National Gallery of Art.
