We had a super fun Spring Break this year that took us from San Francisco to Yosemite National Park. We had great travels, great weather and made some great memories.
The start of our trip was actually a reunion. Chad was at a conference in San Diego, so just took a short flight from San Diego to San Francisco. Amy and the kids flew together from Chicago, after a busy morning that included Oliver competing in pole jump at a track meetl

We are all together again, and checking into our VRBO.
It was a beautiful afternoon, so we decided to head out on a walk. We ended up at beautiful Golden Gate Park.
We happened up a tree in the park we couldn't resist.
For the evening we enjoyed a delightful dinner with our old friends Siri and Sean and their kids at a local SF Chinese restaurant that was amazing. Great to reconnect with treasured friends.
To start our first full day, Amy woke up early (per usual) and got us some pastries from an amazing place in our neighborhood of Pacific Heights.
We headed off to the Ferry Building at the Embarcadero, and decided to use the local bus to get there.

We got our rented bikes and then we were off on our adventure. Destination: Sausalito via the Golden Gate Bridge!

These two renegades took off for a segment of their own adventure, biking ahead of us. They somehow made new friends and got some great views and we met up on the other side.
Our hopes of a photo from base of the bridge were dashed not just by the boys biking ahead but also because of fog just as we approached. A true San Francisco moment.
The fog was still charming, none the less.

By the second half, the sun came out!
Now in Marin County.
We made it all the way to Sausalito. The boys found is just in time to enjoy burgers at a great location for lunch. Well earned food for us all!
We loaded our bikes onto a ferry and enjoyed a pleasant ride on the bay back to where we started.

Still plenty of daylight left -- we headed through San Francisco by foot past the Transamerica Building to Chinatown.
Special stop: the birth place of Wong Kim Ark, whose case in the late 1800s resulted in the realization of the constitutional right to birth right citizenship in the US.

We enjoyed a nice local pizza place in our neighborhood for dinner.

The next day (Monday) started with some warriors going for a morning workout.

Luke talked the family into doing one of these driverless car services that are common now in SF, LA and Austin.
Everyone except Amy -- she elected to take a regular Uber.
The rest of us took a deep breath and jumped in.
No driver?
NO DRIVER! As it turns out, it was perfectly fine. We were able to choose our music (Disney Jams) and made it to our destination unharmed. Amazing technology! Luke was right: doing this would be a truly memorial experience.
Our destination was Luke's idea too: The Asian Art Museum of San Francisco (across from the SF City Hall).
This museum was a delight. We had it nearly to ourselves and the organization and content were wonderful.
We caught a quick divide and conquer lunch at the Ferry Building before we headed off to our schedule Alcatraz tour. The ladies had yummy galettes.

We decided to do a Cable Car Ride! Here is our cable car being turned around. Half the fun!

We enjoyed a nice sunset walk at the Palace of Fine Arts in the Presidio.
Another evening of divide and dine. Luke and I had our sushi night. Amy, Gloria and Oliver had Italian.
We spend the day south of San Francisco. The destination was Half Moon Bay. On the way, we stopped in Palo Alto and did a short tour of Stanford.
Beautiful campus and great lunch stop!
Just north of Half Moon Bay is a great state park with amazing tide pools to explore.
We finished the day with a stop at In N Out Burger. A great few days in the Bay Area before we headed East to Yosemite!
